Indian food is one of my favourite cuisines to eat, because everything is so flavourful from the different spices that are used. The spices that are used in Indian food create a variety of different flavours that other cuisines don’t offer. I’ll never forget the first time I tried Indian food- I was at a friend’s house for a potluck and I was amazed at how the food tasted.
I went on a Wednesday night and the restaurant was pretty busy- always a good sign! Handi offers a large menu with lots of different options to choose from- different meats, sauces, curries, and lots of vegetarian dishes. I would have to say that they have the best Butter Chicken I’ve ever had! The chicken was moist and the sauce was really good. I also noted that there was quite a lot of chicken in the dish. My favourite dish of the night was the Chicken Kadhai (on the menu it’s Lamb Kadhai, but I ordered it with chicken instead). The curry sauce was very flavourful and was just the right amount of spiciness for me. I also loved that they serve their curries in tea candle-lit warmers so they stay hot during the entire meal! I ordered Pea Pulao (basmati rice cooked with green peas & onions) as well as Lachhedar Parantha (multi-layered flaky, whole wheat bread with butter) to eat with the Butter Chicken and Chicken Kadhai. The Lamb Tikka was perfectly cooked and also really tasty. Anything cooked in a tandoor is good in my books! For dessert, I had Kheer (rice flour cooked in milk) which reminded me rice pudding, but with sliced pistachios on top.
There were a lot more things on the menu that I wanted to try, so I will be back for more someday soon!
