Korean tofu soup is one of my favourite Korean dishes! It’s warm, you can make it as spicy as you like, and I love tofu! “Sundubu jjigae” is the Korean name for it.

So far, my favourite restaurant for tofu soup has been House of Tofu Soup in Richmond.

I always get the soup combination which is tofu soup with a choice of Bulgoghi (sweet barbecued meat). My go-to is regular (spiced) mushroom soup with beef bulgoghi.

My favourite thing about eating at Korean restaurants: the free side-dishes! Pictured: sweet squash soup, mashed/whipped potatoes, pickled radish and jalapenos, seaweed, eggs (for the tofu soup) and of course, kimchi!

The rice pot (they scoop your rice for you tableside from the hot stone rice pot), the beef bulgoghi, and the tofu soup. I crack the egg in it as soon as the soup is served because the soup is so hot it’s still bubbling when they put it on your table. This way, the egg poaches and I scoop it out after a minute or so and put it on my rice.
