Meat & Bread

11 / 2 / 14

370 Cambie St, Vancouver, BC

Food Rating: 9/10

This being the first Meat & Bread restaurant to open, my first visit was actually a few years ago, just after it had opened. Since then, Meat & Bread opened two more locations- one on Pender Street, and one in Victoria. Although I haven’t been to the other locations, I imagine they are just as great as this one.

My favourite sandwich is still their Meatball sandwich (I’m a huge meatball fan, whether they’re in pasta or in a sandwich!). The Porchetta is a close second, and the reason that I’m not as wow-ed by it as other people may be due to the fact that I grew up eating the very similar Chinese roasted pork with crunchy skin.

Afternoon Tea at Fairmont Hotel YVR Airport (Globe@YVR)

11 / 1 / 14

3111 Grant McConachie Way, Richmond, BC

Food Rating: 8/10

Although my personal opinion about high tea is that it’s a bit overpriced and not really my preferred “style” of dining (I don’t dress up too often, and prefer dining at casual restaurants), I do enjoy going for special occasions. I’ve been to high tea at this location twice, and both times I used a Social Shopper (or was it Living Social?) coupon. Everything was good, and I would have to say that my tier remains the same at every high tea I’ve gone to: the scone tier with Devonshire/clotted cream!

Upstairs @ Campagnolo

10 / 25 / 14

1020 Main St, Vancouver, BC
Brunch Saturdays, Sundays & Holidays 10:30am-2:00pm

Food Rating: 9/10

Having been to Campagnolo for dinner, and loving it, I knew I would like  Campagnolo Upstairs for brunch. They offer quite a number of things on their menu- entrees as well as pastries and side dishes.

I ordered the fried chicken with biscuits and can honestly say it was one of the best fried chickens I’ve ever had. I love a crunchy, crispy skin and moist meat. I also loved that it came topped with a fried egg!

I had brunch with the YVRFoodClub (a food club consisting of myself and some fellow Vancouver Instagram foodie accounts) and had a great time (as always) laughing, trying each other’s food, and of course, shamelessly taking pictures from every possible angle!

The Fish Counter

10 / 15 / 14

3825 Main St, Vancouver, BC

Food rating: 7/10

Having seen line-ups down the sidewalk at lunch time, and knowing of my boyfriend’s love for fish and chips, I brought him here for his birthday. It wasn’t the best fish and chips I’ve ever had, it was a tad on the oily side. I’m also not a huge fan of battered, deep fried things (I know, call me crazy) so I probably didn’t enjoy my meal as much as someone who is a fan of battered, deep fried things. I had the Oyster Po’Boy which was tasty but again, I found the batter to actual oyster ration a little too high on the batter side. Overall, yummy but very, very  filling!
