Bistro Sakana

1123 Mainland St, Vancouver, BC

Food rating: 7.5/10

This restaurant, in the heart of Yaletown initially attracted me with their “zushi” copy of Minami/Miku’s Oshi Sushi. Complete with a jalapeno slice (which was actually pretty spicy, unlike Minami/Miku’s), the aburi style salmon box sushi is similar, but not quite the same. The dish I enjoyed the most was the Salmon Yuke because it was unlike anything I’d ever had before. If I had to describe it, I would say it’s like hawaiian poke with a poached egg on top. The unagi roll was a typical unagi roll. Would I come back? Yes. But now that it’s crossed off my list of restaurants to try I would choose trying someplace new!
